Corporate Counsel (3-5 Years’ Experience)

Xplornet looks to its legal department to support its growing business groups. Located in Markham, Ontario and reporting directly to the Vice President Legal, the Corporate Counsel will become an integral part of a legal team of 5. He/she will be leading or supporting M&A and financing transactions, negotiating and drafting a variety of complex commercial agreements, and providing legal support on corporate, advertising and consumer matters.
The ideal candidate will have between 3-5 years of corporate, M&A and/or securities experience gained at a major firm or corporation. Any commercial IT, telecommunications or regulatory experience is an asset. Excellent drafting skills plus an ability to think logically and to navigate operational challenges is a must. As well, a business background or interest in the business side of a corporation will be of interest. This person must be confident, assertive, and bright, and must be able to build rapport and provide strategic advice in a collegial manner, as he/she will be working closely with the business groups as well as the executive management team.
