Extendicare’s vision is to be the best senior care and services company in Canada. As it works to achieve this vision, Extendicare looks to its legal department for legal and operational / business support by working closely with all the business groups and corporate functions within the organization. It is now looking to add a Corporate Counsel to its growing legal team, who will report to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, and be based in the Company’s head office in Markham (Steeles Ave/Hwy 404), with a hybrid work arrangement.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 2 – 5 years of corporate/commercial experience gained at a major firm or corporation. Any securities law or public company experience would be an asset, though is not a requirement. Broad corporate/commercial experience will be important for this role, as you will draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, support corporate finance and M&A transactions, and advise on a variety of public company and regulatory matters. In addition to the legal practice experience, you must possess excellent communication and analytical skills and strong business acumen, as you will be working closely with the various business operations groups.
This is a great opportunity to join an organization that is considered one of the leaders in its industry. The company is able to offer a competitive compensation package and challenging work in a supportive environment, with potential career growth opportunities.
