Corporate Law Clerk/Paralegal (5-7 Years’ Experience)

Searchlight Capital Partners (“Searchlight”) is a private investment firm operating in Toronto, New York City and London.  Searchlight identifies and develops distinctive opportunities for its investors and partner companies, and seeks out situations in which its capital, strategic and operational support help create substantial value.

This is a young, dynamic firm with a uniquely global vision.  With its growth and success, the firm has developed a need for a Corporate Law Clerk or Paralegal.  Working closely with and reporting to the Senior Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, this position will be based in downtown Toronto, and will be responsible for a variety of corporate and governance legal matters, which include coordinating D&O questionnaires, preparation of governance related documents (such as board meeting minutes and resolutions), opening and managing bank accounts, preparing and revising tax structure charts and working on other tax structure related matters, managing inbound and outbound KYC requirements and procedures, assisting with ISDA requirements, and managing custody of shares owned by the company.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of corporate law clerk experience gained at a major law firm and/or corporation.  In addition, any corporate governance experience will be an asset, however, training will be provided.  A strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a “roll up the sleeves” attitude will be essential as you will be responsible for a wide variety of work.   The successful candidate will be a self-starter and will be motivated to continue to learn and grow in his/her career with the firm.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the firm as its first Corporate Law Clerk, and to grow along with the firm in a fast-paced, collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.  This is a close knit partnership and the firm enjoys a supportive and team oriented environment.  If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please send your materials to or contact Lorene Nagata or Lesa Ong at NagataConnex Executive Legal Search for an informal, confidential discussion.
