With over 50 lawyers working from Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, London and Hong Kong, CIBC Legal manages legal outcomes by providing a full range of legal and transactional support services to CIBC’s businesses worldwide. Its Canadian Legal team is now looking for a Counsel, Marketing & Personal Banking, to work on marketing and products offers. You will review new offers and marketing to ensure they are compliant with regulations and marketing principles. This will require you to provide strategic advice to a broad range of individuals across CIBC and work with them to achieve desired business outcomes. In addition, you will review and draft commercial contracts relevant to the Personal Banking business. This position reports to the Managing Counsel, Personal Banking, in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of regulatory and commercial contract drafting experience gained at a major law firm or corporation. Any experience advising on marketing or dealing with regulations specific to the FI industry will be seen as an asset. If you do not have regulatory experience, our client is prepared to train you in this area. Strong independent judgment, attention to detail and the ability to build working relationships will be important to succeed in this role. The ability to provide pragmatic solutions on time-sensitive initiatives will also be required. You will need to act like an owner and share our values – trust, teamwork and accountability – in order to excel in our environment.
