Director, Corporate Secretariat
(7+ Years’ Experience – Corporate Law Clerk / Secretarial / Governance)

Our client, a large Canadian public company, is looking to hire for the position of Director, Corporate Secretariat. With a complex governance structure, this is an interesting and challenging role and one that is vitally important to the Company.

The Director, Corporate Secretariat will have a broad portfolio, which includes responsibility for organizing Board and committee meetings, management committee meetings, the Annual General Meeting, coordinating and preparing board meeting materials, subsidiary management and related filings, and handling various aspects of corporate governance and public company matters.  In overseeing this complex portfolio, the Director, Corporate Secretariat will manage a team of law clerks.  This position will report to the General Counsel and is based in Toronto with proximity to the subway line.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of corporate law clerk, corporate secretarial and/or corporate governance experience with a major law firm and/or public company.  You must be highly organized, self-motivated, and engaged in your work.  The ability to work independently, multi-task and oversee a busy practice will be imperative in order to succeed in this role.  Strong communication and leadership skills are very important to this role, as you will be managing a team and interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders.
