HEAD OF LITIGATION

Reporting to the General Counsel, Loblaw is now seeking a Senior Director, Head of Litigation. This leadership role is directly engaged in developing and driving litigation strategy and partnering with the business to identify potential litigation risk and solutions. This individual will work closely with colleagues across the Loblaw legal team and both supervise and partner with external counsel where appropriate to ensure that all aspects of Loblaw’s legal representation are of the highest quality, including day to day running of matters, overall strategy, written work and oral advocacy. The Head of Litigation leads a small litigation team that supports Loblaw’s businesses on a wide range of commercial litigation matters including contractual disputes, product liability claims, class actions and regulatory actions. This position will be located in its head office in Brampton with flexibility to work in other offices in the GTA.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of commercial litigation experience gained with a firm and/or corporation. The ability to be strategic, proactive, decisive, innovative and self-motivated will be key requirements for the role. You will also need to be an strong collaborator and communicator, have excellent drafting skills and be able to provide practical and effective strategic advice. An interest and curiosity about how the business works as well as the ability to build relationships with business groups across the company will be required to succeed in this role.
