LEGAL COUNSEL (5-9 Years Privacy Experience)

The Legal department plays an important role in the development of these innovative operations and services. Reporting directly to VP, Legal, the Legal department is seeking a Legal Counsel, Privacy, to join its central office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal, risk and strategic advice on a wide range of privacy (including health), cybersecurity and data management matters to the Loblaw Group of Companies (including Shoppers Drug Mart). This individual will have an opportunity to split their time between Loblaw’s office in Brampton and offices in downtown Toronto, North York and Liberty Village, as well as opportunities to work from home.

The ideal candidate will have 5 – 9 years of privacy experience gained from a law firm and/or in-house legal department. Knowledge specific to health privacy laws and regulations as well as PIPEDA will be of great interest. As the successful candidate will be involved in drafting policies, memos and notices and making presentations, excellent drafting and communication skills will be required. Strong time management skills and a natural curiosity as well as the ability to multitask will be needed in this varied practice. An ability to build relationships will be required to succeed in this role as the successful candidate will be working directly with the Privacy Office and business groups from across the Company.
