With over 50 lawyers working from Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, London and Hong Kong, CIBC Legal manages legal outcomes by providing a full range of legal and transactional support services to CIBC’s businesses worldwide. Its Canadian Legal team is now looking for a Senior Counsel to provide legal, transactional and strategic advice in connection with M&A, private equity investments, reorganizations and other transactions that are strategically important to CIBC and its clients. This position reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Transactions, in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of M&A and / or private equity experience gained at a major law firm or corporation, and has confidence and experience working with senior executives in evaluating, negotiating and executing complex transactions, while managing legal risk and seeking pragmatic solutions to issues. Strong communication skills, the ability to lead transactions and direct external counsel will be needed to succeed in this role.
