SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL – GLOBAL COMPLIANCE (7+ years experience)

At McCain, the Legal Team provides legal services and assists with the management of the risks associated with McCain’s global business operations. The Senior Legal Counsel, Global Compliance, is responsible for establishing and overseeing global corporate compliance initiatives and programs, with an emphasis in the areas of anti-corruption, privacy and information management, competition, and our codes of supplier and employee conduct. Working in cooperation with internal legal resources and other functions within McCain, this position develops and maintains policies and procedures for the general operation of McCain’s compliance program. The person also assists in addressing compliance issues that arise, and works to ensure that stakeholders receive appropriate training to adhere to compliance imperatives and company policy. This individual is a member of McCain’s Global Legal Team consisting of 16 lawyers located in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions. The position reports to McCain’s Chief Legal Officer and will be located in the Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick area, or Toronto.
The ideal candidate will have a law degree and a minimum of 7 years of compliance experience, ideally gained from both private practice and in-house roles. Privacy experience is essential and any experience in IT/cybersecurity will be highly valued. Excellent management and leadership skills and an ability to build strong relationships across a global organization, the ability to contribute at a strategic level in relation to compliance priorities, strong communication skills, superior organizational and problem solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting balancing multiple projects will be required in order to succeed in this role. A down-to-earth personality, positive outlook and strong interpersonal skills will be necessary in this friendly environment.
