As it works to achieve this vision, Extendicare looks to its legal department for legal and operational / business support by working closely with all the business groups and corporate functions within the organization. It is now seeking an Associate General Counsel, who will report to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, and be based in the Company’s head office in Markham (Steeles Ave/Hwy 404), with a hybrid work arrangement.
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 7 years of corporate / commercial experience gained at a major firm or corporation. M&A, securities and / or regulatory experience will also be of interest. This generalist role will involve engaging in a wide variety of matters, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, supporting corporate finance and M&A transactions, advising on a variety of public company / regulatory matters, and handling day-to-day legal needs. In addition to the legal practice experience, you must possess excellent communication and analytical skills and strong business acumen, as you will be working closely with various business operations groups.
