The McCain Global Legal Team provides legal services and assists with the management of risks associated with our global business operations. This legal team of 30 lawyers, worldwide, continues to grow, and is now seeking a Senior Legal Counsel.
Taking a leadership role as the key legal advisor on McCain’s global M&A transactions, you will work closely with the corporate development and strategy team, providing strategic and tactical advice. You will take legal carriage of transactions, from inception to completion, including providing strategic, risk and structural advice, preparing / reviewing documentation, instructing external counsel, overseeing post-closing transition and integration matters and making appropriate decisions at all stages of transactions. Located in Toronto, this position will report to the Global CLO.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of M&A experience, gained from a major transactional firm. Any relevant in house experience as well as a business school credential would be an asset. Strong negotiating and drafting skills as well as the diplomatic ability to build strong relationships and instill confidence and trust with internal stakeholders will be required to succeed in this role. You are highly pragmatic, diplomatic and business-focused with the ability to effectively communicate legal concepts to non-lawyers. You are able to assist senior management in meeting corporate goals and interact effectively with executives at a strategic level. Superior organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and balance multiple responsibilities will be required.
The individual will be part of McCain’s Global Legal Team across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions and the position will be hybrid, based out of our global corporate headquarters in downtown Toronto.
