The McCain Global Legal Team provides legal services and assists with the management of risks associated with our global business operations. This legal team of 30 lawyers, worldwide, continues to grow, and is now seeking a Senior Legal Counsel.
McCain is seeking a lawyer with the ability to take a leadership role on global sustainability initiatives and related regulatory areas. You will lead legal input and oversight for sustainability initiatives including in relation to environmental claims and sustainability reporting. Working closely with internal business groups, including sustainability, marketing and other commercial teams, as well as with a network of external counsel in key regions throughout the world, you will strategize and provide pragmatic legal advice in relation to sustainability initiatives. You will also provide legal and risk advice on other social responsibility areas, such as supply chain transparency and modern slavery legislation, working with procurement, agriculture and other relevant business groups in relation to these areas. This position will report to the General Counsel, Americas and VP Legal, Sustainability.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of regulatory (competition/ environmental) and/or sustainability experience gained from private practice or in house. You are a team player with sound judgement, a business mind and the ability to build relationships and instill trust with internal stakeholders. You have proven experience in overseeing, streamlining and moving projects forward with sound organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. You possess the confidence to instruct external counsel in multiple jurisdictions and to educate, train and advise on the evolving regulatory landscape in relation to sustainability and other social responsibility regulatory areas.
The individual will be part of McCain’s Global Legal Team across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions and the position will be hybrid, based out of our global corporate headquarters in downtown Toronto.
