Our Legal team is seeking to fill a fulltime position based in its downtown Toronto office. For this role, we will be seeking an individual with 7 – 9 years of private practice / in-house M&A and corporate experience gained at a top law firm or corporate. Experience in the resources sector is preferred. You will play a critical role within BHP’s Corporate & Exploration Legal team, providing high-impact legal advice across complex corporate, company law and M&A matters. Based in Toronto, this role supports global transaction activity and advises stakeholders across the Americas, London, Australia, and beyond.

You will operate as a trusted adviser on strategic mergers, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and other transactions, delivering commercially focused legal guidance in a dynamic, international environment. This role involves close collaboration with BHP’s M&A team as well as engagement with other members of BHP’s global legal team and external counsel. The role is based in downtown Toronto and reports to the Head of Corporate Legal, based in London.

This position provides long-term career development opportunities to move internally, including globally. As you are working with BHP’s global offices, you will be required to accommodate colleagues in different time zones and periodic travel. It will be important that you are able to take initiative on matters, instruct external counsel and build relationships across the company, both within and outside of Canada.
