Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP is a law firm focused on high-stakes matters. Tackling its clients’ issues with clarity and speed, Davies is consistently at the heart of the most complex deals and cases. In 2025, Best Lawyers in Canada recognized 140 Davies partners, and the firm achieved the highest percentage of Band 1 Lawyer Rankings in Chambers Global among all Canadian law firms. In addition, 123 of its lawyers have been recognized by their peers as top practitioners in their respective areas in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. With offices in Toronto, Montréal, and New York, their capabilities extend across borders.
The firm’s ranking reflects its ability to select lawyers who strive to be among the best in their chosen fields of practice. An important part of this success is the Knowledge Management (KM) team, which works with the firm’s legal professionals and other stakeholders to leverage and manage the firm’s intellectual capital and advance its KM and innovation initiatives. The KM team is now seeking to hire a tech-savvy, innovative, and academically curious associate lawyer to join it. You will be actively involved in the implementation of the firm’s strategic KM objectives, including overseeing the ongoing development of the firm’s precedents, interacting with practice groups to implement solutions, staying abreast of changing laws and trends, and working with and providing training to lawyers and students in locating precedents and resources. You will report to the Partner, Knowledge Management and Pricing, and will have a high level of interaction across all practice groups firm-wide.
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding academic record and 4 to 6 years of experience in a corporate and/or securities transactional practice gained from a top-tier law firm. Excellent drafting and written/oral communication skills, including interpersonal and client service skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills, are essential in this role. You should be innovative, naturally curious, and forward-thinking, be a strong team player who takes initiative, and have a keen interest in using legal technology.
The KM team offers the opportunity to continue to support top-end corporate transactions while maintaining a ‘work-life balance’, as this role would offer predictable hours.
